Look for Less: D’Orsay Flats
Since I’ve laid eyes on them last September I have not stopped longing for Jenni Kayne D’Orsay Flats…the heaven sent mix of a ballerina flat and a slipper a la’ Hugh Hefner. However I could not afford to shell out $450.00 and maintain my TIGHT budget. So of course I am thrilled that I have found a similar look for less by Mark & Maddux.
Looking for a stylish flat but you’re on a strict budget?

(FYI-I did not purchase the shoes from this site but so far they are the only site I could find that sell Mark & Maddux flats online)
Looking for a stylish flat with endless funds?
SIDE-NOTE: A few hours of wearing, the Mark & Maddux flats, may cause shoes to stretch and flop off the back of feet that are a little narrow. But of course a less than $8.00 quick fix, like Heavenly Heels, will correct.

Yearn for Yarn
I always have and always will be a lover of art and expression. Everyday street art such as murals and graffiti will stop me dead in my tracks. About a year ago I spotted the latest yarn street art trend, on Tumblr, and as I said in the previous sentence it stopped me dead in my tracks.
And a few weeks ago I realized the YARN BOMBING trend is real out there in those streets!
Below are a few of my favs and I cannot wait to spot goodness like this in Houston!

Styling from 713 to 718
When I saw the 718 area code on my phone screen I figured it was a New York connect and I answered with the quickness! And that it was…Michelle, a New Yorker currently residing in Houston, explained that she wanted me to create summer style layouts to compliment a few handbags she wanted to sell. As anyone that currently follows me knows, or those that have been following me for quite some time knows, I’m forever creating style layouts to promote SIDE OF STYLE. But to be asked to create style layouts to promote others is and always will be a big deal to me.
The images below are the end result of what I created and the images that made the young lady phone and tell me I was her “FASHION WIFE” lol…that was a first and extremely funny to hear. I’m hoping the handbags and whatever other goodies she sells meets the mark!

#ThrowbackThursday: SOME OF THE THINGS I LURK
From vintage POP ART/album covers to vintage black and white photos to vintage shape wear ads…I lurk because I luv!
"This is my mother, Ogretta Greene Robinson (right) and her cousin, Denise Hodges. The photo was taken in the mid-1950s in Muskegon, Michigan. I believe they were about 20 years old at the time. Denise actually went on to try her hand at modeling in Chicago, and my mother married one of the area’s first black doctors, Dr. Henry Phillip Greene. They both loved high fashion and were great fashion influences on all their daughters."

THE F WORDS: FULL FIGURE FASHION WEEK FEATURE
FULL FIGURE FASHION WEEK is in full swing and I felt it was a must I feature a full figure young lady that has been SERVING the style watchers here lately. I could not think pass Sandee of CurvEnvy and JusLivN…so I contacted her for a photo share and below are some of my favorite looks from her this season.
She is the perfect example of two quotes I’ve seen recently: “Style doesn’t stop at a size 10…” and “Fashion is what you buy---style is what you do with the fashion you buy.”
Stay encouraged Sandee!
