FLASHBACK FRIDAY:FALL 2013 READY-TO-WEAR FENDI

 I was in a store recently and overheard 2 ladies saying MICHAEL KORS was to blame for the fur purse charm craze. I may be wrong but I didn't see the cuteness in KORS store windows until FALL 2015. I wanted to say"KORS may have cause the craze but FENDI started the trend when they presented their FALL 2013 READY-TO-WEAR collection!" But I'm not the type to but (or is it butt?) in a conversation LOL. I'm glad, recently, the furry cuteness has appeared in stores that are price friendly for us common folks. When I say I love this trend...shout out to FENDI tho!

Excerpt from PEOPLE magazine regarding Kim Kardashian's cornrows:

Marjan told us, “Kim wanted to give her hair a break from constant heat styling,” making braids the perfect option, amplifying her natural thick locks with synthetic hair attached at the root. The entire process takes an hour and a half, prepping the hair with Oribe Gold Lust Oil, using Gorilla Snot Gel for hold and shine while braiding, and finishing things off with OUAI Soft Hairspray to tame flyaways. The best part of this look for a new mom is, while it takes a fair amount of time to install the braids, once they’re done, “she can sleep with them and wear the style for several days before redoing.”  

And good news for all you aspiring Kim K’s out there, a cornrow tutorial is coming on her app. Marjan said Kim is loving the style. “She has never said that they were uncomfortable.” 

I'm all for Kim and her fierceness but if you're a person of color and/or grew up in an "urban" community I'm sure after reading that excerpt you're sitting there with your face like the above emoji. The media is sharing in depth cornrow info (along with a tutorial mention) as if Mrs. West invented the hairstyle. If you are not familiar with the process there are tons of "tutorials" on YouTube posted by "everyday folks" and some have been there for years. The media needs to---You know what? Never mind...I'm done. Blessed day to ya!

FOLLOWER FORMATION

One word: FORMATION

 This time last week if you would have googled the word FORMATION the dictionary meaning probably would’ve gave you the exact meaning on the first line of the Google page. Currently, I can guarantee that won’t be the case! Unless you were under a rock this past weekend you know FORMATION is now linked to Houston's own Beyonce. 

 While viewing Beyonce’s Fashion Stylist Instagram page I noticed, the stylist, said her Thank You(s) to a list of talented people that played a part in Beyonce’s SUPER BOWL look.  I also noticed none of those people have over 10,000 Instagram followers at the moment (shown below). In fact, some have less than 1,000 followers…in my world that is an inspiration to see. 

 I’ve been sharing my style habits online for quite some time now and in recent years I’ve been told by several: "YOU SHOULD HAVE WAY MORE FOLLOWERS". That number is really a big deal to some as it signifies greatness…but what if some of the people on that THANK YOU list, from Beyonce’s stylist, would’ve looked at their follower count as a sign of their creative length? What if that follower count would’ve made them throw in the towel? A throw that meant I CAN’T KEEP UP WITH THE COOL ONES. 

 I know, I know…follower count can be a tool to move you to the next level. But I also know that at the end of the day a low follower count won’t stop you from reaching your full potential. Keep striving for YOUR very own form of greatness!
