Q & A the N.I.C.E. Way

Question:

Hello SOS, I will be going on a class reunion cruise in October this year and I have some issues with swimsuit wear. I am on the chunky side of the scale and I really don’t think I’ll feel too comfy walking around in swim wear. I do know that you can where wrap around skirts over the swim wear but are there other options? Is it possible that you can post some things on your SOS website or N.I.C.E. blog of different ways to rock swim wear without showing it all? Your advice and time is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Answer:

I’m forever trying to think of an alternative to the sarong wrap over swimsuit. At one point I was shopping tunics for clients and tunics are a good option but they literally “cover up” the swimsuit. So I asked myself “How can a swimsuit be worn by those who don’t want to walk around showing folks the business (without covering the swimsuit completely)?” I instantly thought of the SKIRT. Not just any skirt but the forgiving maxi skirt or full skirt…a high waist full skirt will be even better. You mentioned “chunky” and I’m not sure if you’re busty or afraid to show a little arm, but if you are either of the two I suggest a wide brim sun hat as a topper. That way the hat will play a part in being a focal point for your top half. You can try a mix of dark color swimsuits, light color skirts, patterns, dark color skirts, and/or a light color swimsuits. And although I didn’t include the look, in the samples below, monochromatic color will do the job as well. And last but certainly not least add a wedge (but keep those flip fops close by)! Hope this helps and most of all hope you end up being comfortable.
