Back to the Future

At the start of the school year SIDE OF STYLE presented the back to school styling project “BACK TO COOL” which showcased Houston area students. Two of the students that participated were SENIORS and I want to wish both SheQuira and Lenesha all the best with their high school graduation! Below are just a few photos of the hauteness the young ladies delivered at each of their shoots. The world awaits those two…so happy for them both!

Gratefulness

 The good folks behind a New York based lifestyle magazine, BRONZE MAGAZINE, felt I was worthy of a feature in their publication. A feature in their WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH: Women Trailblazers Issue 2013...I am in awe, amazed, and excited to see my name amongst women that are striving to make a positive change. *Blessed*
 I was not apart of this feature because I have Celebrity Stylist, Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist, or Celebrity Fashion Stylist at the start of my name. I was apart of this feature because of the work that I've done with the YOUTH and WOMEN from all walks of life. Hey Young World

For the last couple of weeks youngins’ have contacted SIDE OF STYLE more than anything…requesting personal outfits to looks for SPIRIT WEEK! For Spirit Week, at local high schools, I’ve been pulling and prepping outfits for teenagers who’ve contacted SIDE OF STYLE requesting 1980s/1990s looks for DECADE DAY, NERD DAY, and  CELEBRITY DAY. I’m so honored to be apart of their festivities! Below are photos of pieces I delivered and made 16 year olds squeal LOL…and my niece (WHO’S ALWAYS IN MY WAY INSTEAD OF ASSISTING DURING AN OUTFIT PULL AND PREP!) playing dress up for her Instagram flicks. I just had to highlight the young clients (THE FUTURE)…I appreciate the love!

 

 

 

YOUTH BOOST

So grateful and thankful to all the parents, friends, mentors, and guardians that trusted/allowed SIDE OF STYLE to style their babies during the "BACK TO COOL" back to school project thus far! N.I.C.E. x Niece

She was 6 yrs old when I noticed she had a "thing" for fashion. I then knew I HAD TO do something in that field...something that could keep her busy at 16 yrs old. At the moment she isn't 16 and her personal style is forever evolving and I cannot wait to see her at 16. I know many will assume or have assumed I pick all her clothes and dress her all the time, but I am uberly amazed at the fact that some of her coolest outfits are the outfits she gathers all on her own. Right now I call her that "Pre-Teen Supreme"...at 6 she played a part in inspiring me to create www.sideofstyle.com and, again, I cannot wait until she's old enough to be apart of the team! Nieces-Pieces when you view/read this do know you are my latest GREATEST INSPIRATION (And always remember: THE CREATIVE ADULT IS THE CHILD WHO SURVIVED).

Judge Mental

This past Saturday I had to make some very hard decisions...interview and judge little girls who were in the MISS TEEN HOUSTON 2012 PAGEANT. It was extremely hard because I wanted to give EVERYONE one of them the high score (because they were all oh so adorable)! The pageant ranged in ages 7-19 and was categorized by age groups. I opted to judge the 7-12 year olds (Jr. Pre-Teen and Pre-Teen) and they all were winners in my eyes! The pageant took place on yesterday and I am still amazed by the event. I again say THANK YOU to the NATIONALS PAGEANTS for bringing such an uplifting event, for young girls, to Houston year after year. And another THANK YOU for selecting me to be apart of the panel of judges. Below I stand after a long day of interviewing little girls...INSPIRED AND TIRED!
