FOLLOWER FORMATION

One word: FORMATION

 This time last week if you would have googled the word FORMATION the dictionary meaning probably would’ve gave you the exact meaning on the first line of the Google page. Currently, I can guarantee that won’t be the case! Unless you were under a rock this past weekend you know FORMATION is now linked to Houston's own Beyonce. 

 While viewing Beyonce’s Fashion Stylist Instagram page I noticed, the stylist, said her Thank You(s) to a list of talented people that played a part in Beyonce’s SUPER BOWL look.  I also noticed none of those people have over 10,000 Instagram followers at the moment (shown below). In fact, some have less than 1,000 followers…in my world that is an inspiration to see. 

 I’ve been sharing my style habits online for quite some time now and in recent years I’ve been told by several: "YOU SHOULD HAVE WAY MORE FOLLOWERS". That number is really a big deal to some as it signifies greatness…but what if some of the people on that THANK YOU list, from Beyonce’s stylist, would’ve looked at their follower count as a sign of their creative length? What if that follower count would’ve made them throw in the towel? A throw that meant I CAN’T KEEP UP WITH THE COOL ONES. 

 I know, I know…follower count can be a tool to move you to the next level. But I also know that at the end of the day a low follower count won’t stop you from reaching your full potential. Keep striving for YOUR very own form of greatness! 

Betty and James

I’ve always been a huge fan of nostalgia so I’m not a part of the current group of Beyonce bang nay-sayers. No, it’s not because I’m a fan of Beyonce but I’m a fan of Betty Page images. Pin up girls (past and present), runway models, and other celebs (Katy Perry and Kelly Osborne to name a few) have rocked the overly cropped Betty bang. And now that Beyonce has gone public with her Betty bang folks are cringing and howling out in disgust. I’m guessing Bey rocking the Betty bang was better accepted in her past videos (photos below) but to walk around doing her everyday thing shouldn’t include the BANG? Sometimes I giggle at this “I’m different but I HATE different” vibe that is so common these days. Get your BANG on B…loving the extra touch of nostalgia with the James Dean steeze in the photo below!

In honor of NATIONAL HANDBAG DAY (it was yesterday actually) it’s a must I share a bag I’ve been longing for since I first laid eyes on it in 2007! I’m a fan of art/collages and the $46,000 Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag displayed it all. *Sigh*

FASHION FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Remember a time when everyone and their mama were not a fashion/style guru and only “IT Girls” and “Socialites” were responsible for street style (after being spotted by the paparazzi)? That was a time when I was an ELLE MAGAZINE FASHION FORUM member and females, aged teens-40s, would swoon over HERMES bags being spotted on an Olsen twin or Beyonce being spotted in another pair of those red sole Louboutin shoes!
Now items like that are so common, and all over Instagram/Fashion Blogs, to the point where they’re no longer “status symbols” (in my eyes). But two of my favorite “IT Girls”, during that time, are still going at it with their street style and "status symbol" pieces. While looking through photos I had a flashback of them then and now…
